Mon Oncle is a colour movie and according to Wikipedia the first one in colour made by Tati. Mr. Hulot, a character made up by Tati , lives in an old neighbourhood at the top of a complicated house that I partially depicted in my small sketch. He is a brother of a woman married to a successful industrialist making some kind of plastic pipes. The industrialist’s house is ridiculously automated and is, despite all the comfort, high maintenance. This family representing our consumerism has a child who is bored by the sterile environment. Just like the family dog, he wants to run free and play outside the machine-like world his parents built. And then comes Monsieur Hulot to rescue. He takes his nephew to his old chaotic world where everybody is just the way they are, followed by the family dog who only can act the way he is.
I very much like the poster so I included it in this blog.
