Mon Oncle is a colour movie and according to Wikipedia the first one in colour. Mr. Hulot, a character made up by Tati lives in an old neighbourhood at the top of a complicated house that I partially depicted in my small sketch. Het is a brother of a woman married to a successful industrialist making some kind of plastic pipes. The industrialist’s house is ridiculously automated and is, despite all the comfort, high maintenance. This family representing our consumerism has a child who is bored by the sterile environment. Just like the family dog he wants to play outside this mechanical world his parents created. And then comes Monsieur Hulot to rescue. He takes his nephew to his old chaotic world where everybody is just the way they are followed by the family dog who only can act the way he is.
