Painting, Sketching & Enjoying Arts

M*A*S*H

MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital. Although it was intended to be a comedy-drama set in a hospital during the Korean War. I always experienced the series primarily as a comedy.  The war simply served as a backdrop to supply the patients, while the rest of the show was pure fun. The cast featured surgeons, the clerk Radar, and many other memorable characters, but for me, the true star was the head nurse “Hot Lips,” played by the wonderful actress Loretta Swit.
This small (9×9 cm) watercolour sketch depicts the unforgettable character of Klinger, played by Jamie Farr, who desperately tries to be sent home by wearing women’s clothing to prove he is mentally unfit for military service.
