What to do when in the London Metro travelling from one side of the city to the other? It turns out people do a lot. People read, chat, change shoes, listen to music, do the makeup, study the billboards etc. Most of the time I stared at people. The diversity is such that boredom is out of the question. Just in front of me was an older lady with a suitcase. Funny to travel on flip-flops but maybe she is just changing the hotels. An other time there is a man in deep meditation over his coke. And then there is a young woman in black that somehow wants to add a fashionable statement despite her modest clothing. But above all there is the mobile phone attached to almost every passenger.
I decided to make small sketches of what I saw . They are made with a water-soluble graphite pencil and a few aquarel strokes. The paper is 9×9 cm.
I also wanted to make a watercolored pen sketch of the entrance of the Metro and that was more difficult than I thought because there is so much going on that it is difficult to decide how to make a focus and then look for the details. This was my first sketch. Not completely what I had in mind so I made an other one but still not what I had in mind but now in a different way. 🙂
