Autumn seems to inspire me a lot since I have many sketches made during this season. The sketches are made over several years and here are just a few in this post. This year seems as if autumn simply refuses to come or it comes in a slow motion. The reason for that is that it is still 25 degrees C. at the end of October. The leaves are not falling and refuse to change colour. However the pear tree in the garden has it’s own seasonal clock and decided that after delivering many pears it was time for a rest.
This is the first time that I decided to combine ink with watercolour and I like the combination.
All other pictures are made on a postcard format with aquarel colours. Sometimes I have used water soluble pencils but most of the time it is just watercolours. I did experiment a lot with different types of paper just to discover de differences and what it does to the paint.
The postcards have a rough texture that shows whatever you do. It is not really suitable for a pencil (although I tried) but aquarel is fine.
Lifting on the other hand is impossible.
The postcards were a gift. The first time a got them I forgot to say that I had enough so I got them a second time. Now I have two boxes with postcard format paper that I will experiment with, wether I like it or not. The future should be not to complain about the paper but to discover how I can use that structure of the paper to my advantage. I am not there yet, obviously.
